Privacy Policy

Skworm (skworm.us) is made by Alien Soft, a division of Zillatown Software, LLC (“we”, “us”). This page explains, in plain words, what happens to your information when you use Skworm.

The short version

What happens when you search

When you search, Skworm sends your search words to other search engines (such as Google, Bing, Yahoo, Brave and DuckDuckGo) and combines their answers. Those engines see Skworm asking, not you: they don’t get your IP address, cookies or browser details from us.

When you click a result, you leave Skworm and go straight to that website, which has its own privacy policy.

Pictures in the results load through Skworm, so the websites that host them don’t see who is looking.

What our servers record

Like nearly every website, our web servers keep short-lived technical logs: the time, your IP address, your browser type and the page address you asked for. Because search words appear in the page address, they can show up in these logs too. We use these logs only to keep Skworm running, stop abuse (such as automated scraping), and fix problems. They are deleted automatically on a rolling basis, normally within about a week, and we never sell or share them.

To block abuse, Skworm briefly counts how often each IP address makes requests. These counts are kept only in memory and expire on their own.

Ask Skworm AI

Skworm AI runs on Alien Soft’s own computer. Your questions are never sent to an outside AI company (such as OpenAI or Google), never saved after the answer is written, and never used to train anything. If a question needs current facts, Skworm runs a quick search for it the same way it does for any search, and shows you the sources. Your last couple of questions stay in your open page only so the AI can follow along, and they’re gone when you close or reload it. To keep the service fair, Skworm briefly counts how many questions each IP address asks; these counts are kept only in memory and reset daily.

Settings stored in your browser

Your choices (such as SafeSearch, language, or a folded-up joke card) are saved only in your own browser, as a preference cookie or in local storage. They are never used to identify you. You can clear them at any time in your browser settings.

Suggestions as you type

If search suggestions are on, the letters you type are sent through Skworm to DuckDuckGo to fetch suggestions. Like searches, this happens on Skworm’s behalf, not yours. You can turn suggestions off under Preferences.

Links to our other sites

The home page links to other Alien Soft sites (such as World Radio, World TV and Live Flights) and to outside sites. When you open one, that site’s own policies apply.

Browser extension

The Skworm browser extension makes Skworm your search engine and new-tab page. It collects nothing and sends nothing anywhere except your searches to skworm.us.

Children

Skworm is a general-audience search engine with SafeSearch on by default. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
